Conformation
The American Kennel Club describes conformation as: "Dog shows, or "conformation" events, are the signature events of the AKC. They concentrate on the distinctive features of purebred dogs and help to preserve these characteristics by providing a forum at which to evaluate breeding stock. Exhibits are judged against individual breed standards, which have been established for the AKC-recognized breeds by their parent clubs. These written standards describe the ideal size, color, and temperament of each breed, as well as correct proportion, structure, and movement".*
Breeders in the Inland Empire Collie Club are very proud of their excellent representatives of the breed. Members dogs have won several awards in all breed competition, specialty competition and at the Collie Club of America National Specialty.
All Breed Best In Show Wins
Two of our members have had dogs win Best in Show at an all breed dog show. Crunch, Ch. Wickmere Western Warrior owned by Charlan Gerrior & Loretta Spence went Best in Show to finish his AKC Championship at the Olympic Kennel Club in August 1981.
The other 'club' dog to go all the way was a 9 month old puppy who was to become Ch. Amberlyn's Bright Tribute ROM-P. Kane went Best in Show in April of 1983. He was bred by Charlan Gerrior, owned by Taliaferro Nelson and shown by Bonnie Young. A true 'club' effort!
